Engine Resource Management

Description

This course has been designed to meet the requirements of STCW Regulation I/12, Sections A-III/1 and 2 and A and B-VIII/2 and intended for engineering officers at both the management and operational level. The objective of this course is to complete the learning objectives of individual lecture and discussion modules (e.g. communications, team building) and successfully participate in the engine simulator and team exercises.

The exercises should be preceded by a briefing lecture followed up by a de-briefing or group discussion after the exercise, which will analyze the actions and decisions of the trainees. During the series of exercises, the trainees will assume different roles in the engineering watch keeping team, with at least one opportunity to take on the part of the engineer in charge of the watch.


Entry Requirement

This course is open for all engineering officers at both the management and operational level who wish to improve their knowledge and understanding of the operation and control of the machinery installation of a modern merchant ship. The objective of this course is to complete the learning objectives of individual lecture and discussion modules (e.g. communications, team building) and successfully participate in the engine simulator and team exercises.
