INTERTANKO Tanker Officer Training Standards (TOTS) - 4E Crude Oil Tanker Simulator Training Course
The course is conducted in accordance to INTERTANKO Tanker Officer Training Standards (TOTS) 4E – Crude Oil Tanker Simulator Training Course and based on the guidelines of DNV Standards 3.201 Learning Program and Section A-I/12 and B-I/12 of the STCW Code.
The purpose of this training is to familiarize the candidates on all aspects of crude oil tanker cargo operations and ensure that they can handle a cargo operation watch onboard safely and effectively. Candidates will be trained for safe and pollution free cargo operations and produce an efficient crude oil cargo operational plans in compliance to existing requirements of the international maritime conventions and legislations. With the aid of INTERTANKO Tanker Officer Training Standards (TOTS), it will provide the industry with a standard that ensures tanker officer’s competency. Those successfully completing this course should be able to take immediate responsibility for any cargo operation on crude oil tankers.
2. Entry Requirement
Newly certificated deck officers and deck officers at operational level are given this tanker simulator training, provided they have experienced sea time on similar tankers and have taken part in the similar exercises to those simulated here. This encounter with simulated exercises should not be their first experience of such operations.
3. Course Intake Limitation
The number of participants shall not exceed eight (8) persons to allow each trainee to benefit from the emphasis of the course. Trainer/ student ratio is one (1) trainer is to four (4) trainees.
