The course is conducted in accordance to INTERTANKO Tanker Officer Training Standards (TOTS) 4F – Crude Oil Tanker Simulator Verification Course and based on the guidelines of DNV Standards 3.201 Learning Program and Section A-I/12 and B-I/12 of the STCW Code. The purpose of this course is to measure the capability of the candidates on all aspects of oil tanker cargo operations and ensure that they can handle a cargo operation watch on board safely and effectively. Candidates will be measured for safe and pollution free cargo operations and produce an efficient crude oil cargo operational plans in compliance to existing requirements of the international maritime conventions and legislations. With the aid of INTERTANKO Tanker Officer Training Standards (TOTS), it will provide the industry with a standard that ensures tanker officer’s competency. Those successfully completing this course should be able to take immediate responsibility for any cargo operation on crude oil tankers.
2. Entry Requirement
Existing Operational Level Deck Officers aspiring to Management Level positions and newly promoted Management Level Deck Officers are given this Oil Tanker Simulator Verification Course (TOTS 4F), provided that the participants have completed Elements 1, 2, 3, and Module 4E, before they can finally attend the said course.
The participants is expected to have considerable experience in the simulated operations since the simulator assessment have been designed to take place at the end of the Tanker Officer Training Scheme.
3. Course Intake Limitation
The number of participants shall not exceed eight (8) persons to allow each trainee to benefit from the emphasis of the course. Trainer/ student ratio is one (1) trainer is to four (4) trainees.
