COMPASS – Philippine’s 1st to offer FURUNO Type-Specific ECDIS Training

COMPASS entered into partnership agreement with FURUNO NAVSkills, making them the first maritime training center in the Philippines to offer FURUNO Type-Specific ECDIS.  A 2-day training course that offer familiarization of operation of ECDIS model used onboard.

In May 2012, COMPASS installed 8 workstations of FURUNO’s first developed type specific training course, the FEA-2107/FEA-2807 ECDIS.  Providing convenience to the Filipino marine deck officers and other neighbouring countries within the Asian Region.

Currently, we are pleased to announce that the new generation of FURUNO ECDIS model FMD-3200/FMD-3300, is now available at COMPASS Training Center, Inc. The pilot class was successfully conducted last 16 – 17 May 2013 for deck officers, who have gained the in-depth knowledge about the functionalities and user interface specific to the new ECDIS. The first group of trainees expresses satisfaction with the training content, and came out certain in their ability to operate the new ECDIS onboard vessel.

Both training equipment is constantly kept updated with learning content and software to comply with current training standards and regulations. The type specific ECDIS training is provided in accordance with the standard set by FURUNO, which is in compliance with the STCW and ISM Codes as well as currently known requirements from various flag state.

COMPASS Training Center ensures that the training course is conducted in the same way, with the same content and duration and using the same teaching methods that of FURUNO’s own training center, in Denmark and Singapore.

Being clear to its responsibility as a maritime training provider, COMPASS, will continue to provide first-class training to the seafarers in order to ensure safety of life , protection of property and that of the environment.
